Abstract: The once-dominant paradigm of a divided world between the ‘West’ and the ‘Rest’ is giving way to a more nuanced, multipolar global order. The West's influence is waning as diverse state and non-state actors assert their agency, challenging traditional alliances and approaches to global governance. Responses to recent crises, such as the war in Gaza and escalations in the Red Sea, highlight the limitations of a Western-centric worldview and the growing assertiveness of nations in the Global South. The West must adapt to this new reality by embracing flexibility, inclusivity, and collaboration, rather than imposing rigid polarization. Success in this evolving landscape hinges on the West's ability to engage with and co-create alongside the rest of the world, recognizing and respecting diverse perspectives and interests in shaping the global narrative.
