Abstract: With President Joe Biden’s exit from the 2024 race, the spotlight has returned to the future of US global leadership. However, as the US continues to shift its focus to the Indo-Pacific, Europe must take a more prominent role in addressing the instability in the Middle East and North Africa. The region faces significant challenges, including Iran’s nuclear ambitions, proxy conflicts, and economic collapse. Recent European efforts in Libya, Tunisia, and Lebanon have been inconsistent, but there is now a pressing need for Europe to engage more strategically. How Europe chooses to act in this critical moment will define both its influence in the Middle East and its standing in the global order.
