Abstract: The changing nature of contemporary warfare is evident in conflicts like those in Libya and Nagorno-Karabakh, where hybrid methods such as disinformation and electronic warfare are increasingly favored. Drones and long-range defense systems have replaced traditional boots on the ground, enabling medium powers to assert control over strategic locations. Casualty aversion and technological advancements have allowed conflicts to be fought extraterritorially, without major powers intervening. This shift poses challenges for traditional military forces and could lead to a more destabilized geopolitical landscape, particularly in the Middle East. Counteracting remote warfare requires targeting support systems and infrastructure, but with the proliferation of drones, enforcing regulations becomes increasingly difficult. As proxy wars become more prevalent, the region faces heightened tensions and instability, exacerbated by geopolitical rivalries and ideological clashes.
